Throughout the year, DOT helps keep children safe on city streets by hosting regular free car seat fittings and distributions. The agency inspects 900 car seats and distributes close to 275 car seats to low income families each year.
Is your child riding safely in the car, in the restraint that's most appropriate for him or her? Find out during Child Passenger Safety Week, September 19 – 25, 2010. DOT is urging parents, grandparents and caregivers to make sure their child's car safety seat is installed correctly. The agency is offering two special events this month to help New Yorkers keep their young auto passengers as safe as possible:
